My Coupon Matchups

I just wanted to remind everyone that the coupon matchups I post weekly or monthly for CVS and Walgreens (or any other store) are just my opinion of the BEST deals and most likely what I intend to buy. It's not every deal available.

Be sure to check your own ads for more goodies and even some regional variances.

I also live in a crummy coupon region. So if a deal is good with a coupon I don't have, I may not list it.

Thanks for reading!

CVS Quarterly ExtraBucks

Did you know that CVS rewards their customers with 2% back on all purchases? These rewards are given quarterly in the form of ExtraBucks.

The ExtraBucks for Winter spending should start printing tomorrow! It's like bonus time!

Brookshire's Show & Tell (March 30th)

I was lacking two (three) things at Brookshire's yesterday:

Patience & Organization (Sanity)

I still did good, especially according to the women in line behind me. If I had just waited until I could clean up my coupon binder, I could have done better. Live & learn!

Here's what I got:

Ok, what's more shocking?
Me showing off my tampons or
O.M.G. --I "bought" more Pop-Tarts!
.98 each with $1 peelies=FREE plus .02 overage.

I bought 7 boxes of Kellogg's without coupons! $2 each=$14. Earned 3 FREE gallons of milk! (And we really do like these cereals...)

There's a P&G Rebate offer good only until March 31st. Buy $35, get a $10 Gas Card. Buy $40, get a $15 gas card.

P&G Total: $41.44
After coupons: $25.69
And I'll get back a $15 Gas Card.

I used a $25 Gift Card from a transferred prescription.

Total Paid: $28.82
Total Saved: $74.61 or 61%

But remember--I have 3 FREE gallons of milk and a $15 Gas Card coming my way!

Target Show & Tell (March 30th)

I got my Pepsi coupons in the mail on Saturday (from a rebate in January). I could feel the HEAT coming from my coupon binder! I knew I needed to wait for the right deal, but it's hard to hold onto coupons that good!

Guess what? I didn't have to wait!

Target has a deal on Pepsi this week:

Buy 5 @ $3 each=$15

Get a $5 Gift Card!

I used 5 $2 coupons.

I paid $5.70 and got a $5 Gift Card!

WOOHOO! I'll take it! Just don't tell me about the Pepsi Moneymaker that's sure to come at CVS or Wags...

Walgreens Show & Tell (March 20th)

I really debated on whether or not to do the Dove deal at Wags this week. I wasn't overly impressed with the prices & coupon matches, but I do LOVE Dove deodorant!

Here's what I did:

2 Dove Hair Care
$3.50 each sale price
Used a $1.50 MQ & a $2 MQ

6 Dove Deodorants
5 @ $2.09 each sale price
1 @ $3.21 sale price
Used 3 $1.50/2 MQ's

2 M&M's (as fillers)
.50 each

Used a $6 RR

Total Paid: $9.18

Register Rewards Earned: $10

Then I did the Walgreens diaper deal:

8 packs @ 2/$9

Used 2 $10 RR's

Now I'm totally wiped out of RR's and gift card money! I think I'll be transferring a prescription this week for some FREE money!

Coupon Preview for March 22nd

I may not even buy a newspaper this week.

There is only one insert and I don't see anything that jumps out at me.

Maybe the Yoplait yogurt coupons to go with the sale at Brookshire's, but I think there's enough printables out there for my satisfaction.

The preview shows a couple of Shick Quattro coupons, but my region never gets those.

You can see the full preview here and decide for yourself.

Target Show & Tell (March 17th)

I was reading yesterday about all these great deals Target was having--FREE Pledge wipes, FREE lightbulbs, etc. Not in my region.

Once I finished crying about it, I was going to just do the Quaker deal and leave...

But then it happened...

The little Red stickers called my name...

I was drawn to them in a trance-like state...

And this is what I got:

Total Paid: $26.86 ($8.50 OOP for the Quaker bars)

Total Saved: Um, how can I declare a savings when I spent money on things that I never intended to buy? I used $3 in coupons for the Quaker bars and got a $5 gift card back.

Walgreens Show & Tell (March 17th)

I wasn't finding everything I wanted on this trip. Instead of wasting my $10 RR, I opted to pay OOP for my transaction. How do you think I did?

Listerine, Reach floss, & Reach toothbrush
$9
Used $3 MQ from Diabetes & You book found at Wags Pharmacy
Earned $6 RR
Final Price: FREE

2 boxes of Sambucol
$11.99 each (These were marked on the shelf as $10.99, so I paid $2 more for the transaction total than I was expecting.)
Used 2 $3 MQ's from inside the boxes of previously purchased Sambucol
Used $10 EasySaver coupon x 2
Final Price: FREE plus overage

Mac & Cheese Poppers
.25 each clearance price

Total Paid: $6.82-.63 (on Gift Card)=$6.19 OOP
Total Saved: $33.45
RR's Earned: $6

CVS Show & Tell (March 17th)

I haven't been to CVS much since I got my new card. I popped in once last week to see if they had the FREE after ECB toothpaste (Like I need more toothpaste!). I left empty handed, and was quite okay with that.

I never thought they'd actually have the Irish Spring when I went in last night. Low & BEHOLD!

My purchases got so messed up, though! There's absolutely NO WAY I could break my transactions down in writing. On the first transaction, one item didn't ring up at the price I thought it was. On the second transaction, the cashier hit the wrong button for my ECB and then the manager accidentally cashed it out. The manager was doing refunds and re-rings, and I wanted to ask the poor guy if he'd ever heard of a "Post Void".

All I can tell you is that I have a total of $1 more ECB's and approximately $4 more on money cards than when I went in.

So, after they paid me $5, I walked out with this:

Some of the Natural Dentist mouthwash was on clearance for $1.75. I used $2 IP's HERE. Now I'll send off for the $10 Mail-in-Rebate! Woohoo!

The fleece Doggers were on clearance for .99!

Check out the other coupon matches here.

On My Shoulders

I have a little angel on my shoulder. I have a little devil on my other shoulder. They both whisper in my ear. I don't always hear them over the noise my three children make, but they're there.

When I found a $100 bill on the ground in Old Navy, neither of them spoke. My decision to give it to the manager was not even really a decision--it was an instinct.

When I was leaving Old Navy, the little angel said,"You're not going to use that 30% off coupon you printed. Why not pass it along to someone else?" I scanned the lines and went to the lady with the fullest shopping cart and handed it to her. It thrilled me to make someone else's day.

However, when I found Pop-tarts on sale for .98 that had $1 peelies on them--I cleared the shelf! Thank you little devil! Sorry other customers... :D

Brookshire's Show & Tell (March 13th)

Quick trip to Brookshire's (in the rain) and my FAVORITE cashier was working! No problems tripling here! See most of the coupon matches here.

Total Paid: $3.40
Total Saved: $20.48 or 88%

Walgreens Show & Tell (March 13th)

I did the Huggies deal again.

This was my last Irish Spring. $4.49 for 4=$1.12 each. Like I said, if I had realized what this deal was, I wouldn't have done it. That's what I get for being too froggy and jumping too fast.

Fillers were Royal chocolate pudding and M&M's (not pictured).

I used a $10 RR from buying Walgreens infant formula.

Total Paid: $12.57
Total Saved: $31.16
Earned $10 RR

Brookshire's Show & Tell (March 12th)

When I checked out at Brookshire's last night, my cashier was obviously very experienced and knowledgable. She was friendly and efficient--a little too efficient! She manually entered my IP's so they would not double or triple! I was so sad, but I genuinely do not have a problem with it because the coupon clearly states "Do Not Double or Triple". I mean, I'll take it when it doubles or triples, but I can't argue with the writing on the wall (er, the coupon). It put my total $2 more than I was expecting.

They were also out of my favorite variety of the Fiber One bars. :(

You can see most of the coupon matches here.

Total Paid: $11.36
Total Saved: $21.74 or 68%

P.S. Does it make anyone else sick to buy trash bags? I mean, I'm buying something with the intention of throwing it away! I had to buy some decent ones though--I'm so tired of 13 gallon trash bags not being BIG enough for a 13 gallon trash can! UGH!

Walgreens Show & Tell (March 12th)

I finally did the Huggies deal! And I'll be doing it a couple more times today and tomorrow. The pic only shows two packs, but I did buy three--I've just already given one away!

My Irish Spring rolled again. That's 3 for the price of 1 so far.

The Glade was free.

The Allergy medicine was $3.99 and I'll get that plus 10% back on my Gift Card.

Lastly, the Dry Idea was a little "deal-gone-wrong". The ad states 2.25-4oz. Dry Idea deodorant is $2.99 and will produce a $2 RR. There's a $2 IP HERE. The one I got was on Clearance for $2.29. I though I had really scored! But no RR printed. I'm not sure why. Still, it's a 29 cent deoderant for my "Donate" pile.

I also used a $10 RR from buying Walgreens infant formula.

Total Paid: $13.78
RR's Earned: $10
Rebates Earned: $4.38
Profit of 60 cents!

Sisterhood Award

Sisterhood...I think that perfectly describes our blog community. I have learned so much from other blogs, from forums, from links recommended by others. I would not have the knowledge and abilities to do couponing like this if it hadn't been for those who have helped me along the way.

I received this award from Together We Save. She's kind of a newbie, but she is sure starting to spread those wings!

I'm supposed to nominate 5 blogs that show Attitude and/or Gratitude.

Yup, these ladies have it! Attitude & Gratitude! And I love their blogs and appreciate their hard work!

Coupon Preview for March 15th

Before I started seriously couponing, I don't think I ever noticed that coupon inserts can often coincide with a current sale. This week is a FANTASTIC example of that!

Walgreens will have all Dove products at 25% off WITH a Register Reward promotion, and there will be lots of Dove coupons in this Sunday's paper.

There will also be a Register Reward deal with Listerine and Reach dental products at Walgreens with corresponding coupons this week.

There should be an Irish Spring coupon that will create a moneymaker at CVS after coupon and ExtraCare Bucks.

So, if you're just thinking about getting into this "coupon thing", this could be a great week to do so!

I'm also happy to report that I should be able to replenish my Pillsbury coupon supply this week.

The Coupon Clippers are only previewing two inserts: 1 SmartSource and 1 Red Plum. However, I received an e-mail direct from Procter & Gamble telling me to expect an insert this week.

Once again, I'm wary of my region's variances. I wouldn't be surprised if we miss out on the Listerine/Reach coupons. I was pleasantly surprised a few weeks ago, though: after badmouthing our region and the lack of Garnier coupons, we got 'em! Should I keep up the smacktalk?

FREE Route 44 Drinks at Sonic!

My mother-in-law is a genius! How many of you can say that?

She told me how I could get Route 44 drinks for FREE at Sonic Drive-In! This may just be a local deal, but check the bottom of your last or next Sonic receipt. There might be a survey opportunity that will yield you a validation code for a FREE Route 44 beverage. The survey requires a touch-tone phone and takes about 2 minutes.

Then, go to Sonic and get your FREE Route 44 drink. And you'll get another receipt with another survey oppurtunity! I've only done this once so far, but my MIL has kept hers rolling for a couple months, I believe.

How cool is that?

Brookshire's Show & Tell (March 10th)

Most of these items are from last week's sale. Check out this week's rundown here.
Total Paid: $4.22
Total Saved: $19.38 or 84%

Walgreens Show & Tell (March 10th)

Here's the deal with the Irish Spring Body Wash. You buy the first one, and a Register Reward prints for a FREE one. The registers are not reading the RR, so cashiers/managers are entering a $4.49 manufacturer's coupon instead. Then a new Register Reward generates with your purchase. You may have problems with this deal if you choose to do it. Some peole are reporting that stores are not giving customers the new RR. I think they have full right to do so. The manager at the store I went to yesterday had no problem giving me the new RR. Just a little FYI.

The Glade was free.

Remember the Vent Fresh thingie from January? Not only did I get a moneymaking rebate from Wags and a pending full rebate from the manufacturer, but there was a coupon for a free refill in the package. I found a tearpad at Walmart for a FREE movie ticket WYB 2 Vent Fresh products. They were $2.49: one was free and I used a $2 RR on the other=.49 movie!

Total Paid: $1.70

Total Saved: $19.48 plus the cost of a movie ticket!

Why, O Coupons, Why?

I just need to vent a small frustration...

I stocked UP on Pillsbury biscuits during the Daytona Event, only for them to go on sale at $1 with a MONEYMAKING catalina deal two weeks later after I'd used almost all my coupons.

This past week, I was so proud of myself for getting Fiber One bars and Nature Valley granola bars for just 70 cents. This week, I could have used those same coupons to get them for just 20 cents! UGH!

However, when I hold on to my coupons waiting for a better deal, it doesn't always come along.

I know I have no real reason to complain--I'm still getting good deals. But kicking myself all the time is starting to hurt a little... :D

Brookshire's Show & Tell (March 8th)

I happen to think this was a pretty ROCKIN' trip to Brookshire's, although it was much more than I usually spend there.

I had a 10% off coupon that I had earned for my January/February spending. I was hoping that the 10% would come off the pre-coupon price--but it was not so. :( Still, it saved me $5.

Lowdown on the Lysol:

The large green cans were on Clearance for $1.95
I used (3) $2 MQ's to score overage

The rest were on sale for $2 each
I used various IP coupons HERE

Total for all the Lysol was $4.00.

Total Paid: $51.06
Total Saved: $66.93 or 59%

But wait! I got $3.21 back in cash because the hot dogs didn't ring up right. I'll get $3.99 back from a mail-in rebate on the Pops cereal. I also received a $1 OYNO coupon.
I'll tell you what really did me in was the $ 7 worth of milk and this:

YUM-O!

Walgreens Show & Tell (March 8th)

I thought I had read somewhere that the Irish Spring Body Wash was $4.49 and was giving a $4.49 Register Reward. That was SO not the case! It gave me a coupon for a free body wash. I'm going to use it tomorrow, and hope that I get another coupon! We'll see. If I had known, I wouldn't have gotten it...

Oh, well! $1.81 OOP here for 4 Hairsprays, 2 Conditioners, 1 Shampoo, and a body wash. I saved $24.50.
See coupon matches here.

Huggies Deal @ Walgreens

There's a great Register Reward promo at Walgreens this week:

Buy $25 in participating Kimberly-Clark products, receive $10 RR.

There are several participating products, but the really great deals involve Huggies diapers & wipes.

The diapers are $10 per jumbo pack and the wipes are $6 per pack (184-232 ct).

Right now, there are $5 and $3 IP's HERE.

If you were lucky, then you also printed some of these about 10 days ago, before they were reset.

The original ones (from 10 days ago) stated "Save $5 on one Gentle Care Product" and "Save $3 on one Natural Fit Product". The new ones were changed to state "Diaper Products", so they may not work on the wipes.

There is also a Walgreens children's activity book that has a $1 coupon for Huggies diapers. This is one of their Instant Coupons that can be combined with the manufacturer coupon and applies $1 to each qualifying item.

If you have all these coupons, your transaction might look like this:

2 Huggies Gentle Care diapers: $10x2=$20
1 Huggies Gentle Care wipes: $6
Total: $20+$6=$26
Coupons:
(3) $5 IP's=$15
Walgreens Instant Coupon $1x2=$2
Total: $15+$2=$17
OOP: $26-$17=$9
Register Rewards Earned: $10
Final Price: Profit of $1

Now, this scenario is highly unlikely, but possible if you have all the necessary factors. I haven't been able to find the Gentle Care wipes like some have, though.

Here's a more basic scenario based on what's available now:

2 packs of Gentle Care diapers: 2x$10=$20
1 pack of Natural fit diapers: $10
Total: $30
Coupons:
(2) $5 IP's=$10
(1) $3 IP
Total: $10+$3=$13
OOP: $30-$13=$17
Register Rewards Earned: $10
Final Price: $7

If you have Huggies mailer coupons, you have other options as well.

You can use Register Rewards from other promotions to pay for this as well, like from the Dove deal last week. However, do not use Register Rewards from this promotion to pay for this promotion or your new Register Reward will not print.

Just a note: The Gentle Care diapers are only available up to Size 2. The Natural Fit diapers are available in Size 3 and up.

I didn't pay a penny out of pocket for this. I used my fat gift card and Register Rewards. I went in with $11 in RR's and $53.85 on my gift card=$64.85. I left with only $4.61 on my gift card, but $57 in RR's=$61.61. So I paid $3.24, I guess. My Bebe Girl needed formula and I just ran out of FREE Kroger formula. Can I really complain? Um, no.

(The little things at the bottom right were carabiner clips on clearance for .05. Great filler item and my boys were happy to get them. The pink one is for me: My Bebe Girl loves to play with my keys, so I can clip them onto the shopping cart and she'll stop dropping them!)
