Coupon Preview for May 31st...and more

My body made it home from Florida, but I'm pretty sure my brain is at a rest stop somewhere on I-10. It was a hectic week (not what a vacation should probably be...), but we had a great time!

There will be two inserts in Sunday's paper: 1 SmartSource and 1 Red Plum.

I don't see a lot to be excited about. I hope my region gets the .55 off Land O Frost Premium Deli Lunch Meat and I always put to good use the .50 off Betty Crocker Warm Delights.

Be sure to print any coupons from Coupons.com that you might care about. It's the last day of the month=last day for printing from this cycle.

I've posted up the few deals I found at Brookshire's and Kroger. Those deals end on Tuesday.

I'll have CVS and Walgreens up soon (It's just a "so-so" week, by the way).

Kroger (May 27th-June 2nd)

My Kroger stores are part of the Delta region. Advertisements run from Wednesday thru Tuesday.

You do need a "Kroger Card" for most sale prices. The card is free and can be obtained at the customer service desk.

My Kroger stores DOUBLE manufacturer's coupons up to and including 60 cents everyday. Up to 8 like coupons will double per transaction, all others will be redeemed at face value.

***NEW INFO! According to policy, Kroger accepts internet coupons with the following stipulations:
  • Only ONE coupon for each "Like" item per transaction.
  • Coupons up to and including .60 will double.
  • Coupons above .60 will be redeemed at face value.
  • Coupon value cannot exceed the item's price.
  • No "FREE" coupons accepted.
Kroger has a "Scan Rite" guarantee. If the item does not ring up correctly, you get it free. See customer service desk for details.

Kroger gives you .03 credit per reusable bag.

Week 5 of my $60 Budget

I did great last week! I only spent $36.90!

In case you're wondering what's included in my budget, it's groceries, health & beauty, toiletries, cleaning supplies, paper goods like paper towels & tissues, diapers, formula (although now we're done with it! Hallelujah!), etc.

I really worked it at Walgreens last week with lots of money-making.

I made a few Brookshire's trips that went really well and one Kroger trip. I also went to Target and got free deodorant and Easy Mac.

If I'm consistently under budget for the next few weeks, I may drop the budget to $50. Or I'm thinking about putting the extra in a "stockpile" fund for when a really great sale comes along. What do you think?

Readers, Meet Calzone

I like to share some of my meals and recipes to show you how you can prepare delicious family friendly meals at low costs. Using coupons and shopping sales allows me to stock up. Then I use that stockpile to plan my meals.
Today, I'd like you to meet "Calzone". He's beefy and sturdy with a warm gooey center.
Here are the ingredients:

Meatballs: .40
Pasta sauce: .67
Refrigerated Pizza Crust: FREE
Shredded Cheese: about .63 (I used about half a bag)
Olive Oil, Garlic Salt, Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

Total Meal Cost: $1.70

1. Roll out your pizza crust and cut in half to make two calzones.

2. Spread out pasta sauce, top with meatballs (I quartered mine), and shredded cheese.

3. Roll the calzone working to keep the filling inside--that was a little tricky! Pinch and press the ends really well.

4. Brush or drizzle some olive oil on the outside. Sprinkle with garlic salt and red pepper flakes. Cut slits in the top to keep your dough from bubbling up. (P.S. I know it looks a little sad raw, but it perks up in the oven!) Bake at 350* for about 17 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

I dipped mine in Ranch dressing--which was FREE of course! YUMMY!

My Homemade Marble Slab Creation

I love chocolate soft serve. If I won the lottery, I would have a soft serve ice cream machine. Oh, yes.

And what makes it even better? Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

To make my own "Marble Slab" version, I scoop the ice cream and pop it in the microwave for a few seconds. Just enough to make it mushable (Spell check's gonna have a field day with that one...). I add a little chocolate syrup and milk and mush!

Once I've achieved creamy chocolaty bliss, I cover with two chopped peanut butter cups to make my bliss heavenly!

Yes, it's excessive. Excessively delicious! You know you want one.

And if you really want a cost analysis, it's about .75--But I'd pay any price!

Kroger (May 6th-May 12th)

My Kroger stores are part of the Delta region. Advertisements run from Wednesday thru Tuesday.

You do need a "Kroger Card" for most sale prices. The card is free and can be obtained at the customer service desk.

My Kroger stores DOUBLE manufacturer's coupons up to and including 60 cents everyday. Up to 8 like coupons will double per transaction, all others will be redeemed at face value. According to policy, Kroger accepts internet coupons up to 75% of the item's regular price.

Kroger has a "Scan Rite" guarantee. If the item does not ring up correctly, you get it free. See customer service desk for details.

Kroger gives you .03 credit per reusable bag.

Great Printables at Coupons.com!

Coupons.com is rocking this month! I guess April showers do bring May flowers! ;)

Be sure to print your coupons for Dole, California Pizza Kitchen, DiGiorno, and Kellogg's. Those are likely to have a limited number of prints and will run out soon.

Free 2 Piece Grilled Chicken Meal at KFC

Click HERE to print a coupon for a FREE 2 piece meal of KFC's new Grilled Chicken (which I thought was quite tasty!). This is a full 2 piece meal with 2 sides and a biscuit!

After you print, hit the "BACK" button three times and print a second coupon.

This coupon will only be available until May 6th at 9:59 P.M., so print it NOW! Coupon is valid until May 19th, but not valid on Mother's Day.

There is currently a PDF version of this coupon on Oprah's website HERE. The terms state that you can print it 4 times.

This offer is no longer available due to poor planning by KFC. They are not accepting the coupon due to "exceptional" response. Can I just ask, on the record: KFC, you offer a FREE meal coupon in hard economic times and advertise it like crazy (including on the most popular talk show in America) and you didn't know how overwhelming the response would be?

Now, in their defense, Oprah's people made the coupon available via PDF and jacked up KFC's control over the number of prints.

Their solution at this point is to offer a raincheck by mail. Go to your local KFC and trade the coupon for a raincheck form. I believe you have to mail it in. They will send you a coupon for a free meal including drink. One per person.

Sadly, they'd tried to do something good and promote their new product. Now they'll be doing damage control instead. They are trying to make good on their offer.

Please remember to treat KFC's employees with respect. They are not at fault in this mess.

Hello, PREMIER!

If you're visiting my blog for the first time from the short presentation I gave tonight--WELCOME! I had so much more I would've liked to have told you, so I'm glad you're here!

To learn more about couponing, start with the tutorials on the right hand side of the page or click here first for a basic overview. Then you can read about shopping at each store by clicking on the links to the right.

Remember, you can still be a frugal shopper without clipping every coupon in sight like I do. Use your new price list to make yourself more aware of item costs. Watch for sales and stock up.

The question was asked tonight,"Don't you spend more money stocking up?" I'm really glad someone asked that, because it can seem overwhelming at first. I threw myself full-on into heavy coupon shopping and I spent more in the first month than I realized. You can start slow. Use $10 a week to "stockpile". Also, if you learn how to shop at CVS and Walgreens effectively, you can spend very little. This may mean multiple transactions to spend the lowest out-of-pocket.

After you've done some reading, you may be thoroughly confused. Take a deep breath and start small. Here are some basic scenarios to get you started:

CVS (You must use an ExtraCare card):

Print at least 3 of the Kellogg's Special K or Frosted Flakes coupons HERE
Buy 3 boxes included in the 3 for $10 sale on the front page of the ad.
Pay $7 plus tax.
You will get back $5 Extrabucks to use toward another purchase.

Walgreens:

Print this $1 coupon.
Buy Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste for $4.49-$1 coupon
Pay $3.49 plus tax.
You will get back a Register Reward for $4.50 to use toward another purchase.

Please feel free to e-mail me or leave comments on here! I love to help others!

I am thinking about teaching a full class, so if you're interested, please let me know.
